GO Outdoors Blogger of the Year Kate from ‘Adventures of Kate’ has been busy out and about exploring the South coast for us to bring us 5 walks that she would recommend in the area of the country where she grew up and here’s what she recommends:
‘Theres no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing’ is a famous quote you’ve likely heard before, but the spirit of adventure that inspired that quote may be lacking in today’s Britain.
GO Outdoors recently comissioned a survey a survey of over 2,000 adults in the UK where we found that more than half of working adults spend less than 30 minutes outside in the fresh air, with 83% barely seeing any daylight at all due to leaving for work before sunrise and coming home after sunset during those shorter winter days.
Today is Founder’s Day – the birthday of the Scouts’ Founder, Robert Baden-Powell, and what a brilliant moment to shine a spotlight on the Scouts and the amazing volunteers who make it happen. Here at GO Outdoors we couldn’t be more pleased to support such a positive movement.
Ah the school holidays, precious extra time with your little cherubs, or the perilous task of thinking up ways to keep them from spending every minute of the day on their games console. Whichever resonates with you the most, it’s important for us all to encourage kids to spend more time outside. A study in 2016 showed that kids spend less time outdoors than most prison inmates, and 1 in 9 hadn’t set foot in a park, beach, forest or other natural areas in over a year.
So what can we do? How do we get kids interesting in spending time in the outdoors?
Danish camping giants Outwell are back at GO Outdoors in a big way in 2019, and we’re thrilled to welcome a whole new range of tents alongside some of their stunning camping furniture.
The best bit about these tents? They’re exclusive to GO Outdoors which gives GO Outdoors Discount Card holders the best possible access. Read more
A new season brings plenty of new gear, and nothing gets us more excited than seeing all the new kit arriving in our stores and on the website. Over the next few articles, we will shine a light on a different brand available at GO Outdoors and some of the fantastic new tents and camping equipment set to land with us in 2019.
GO Outdoors are proud stockists of ‘Zip Us In’ products
If you’re getting ready for the arrival of your baby, the last thing you need is the expense of having to buy a whole new wardrobe of clothing during pregnancy, it’s costly for you and it can be wasteful buying clothing for a short length of time.
With more expecting mums wanting to stay active through pregnancy, we realised that there simply were not many options for outdoor maternity clothes, so we were very excited when we found out about Zip Us In expander panels.
Zip Us In create a waterproof expander panel that can be zipped into your existing waterproof or insulated jacket to help cover your bump.
Celebrate Winnie the Pooh Day with a visit to his home
January 18th marks the annual ‘Winnie the Pooh Day’, which is celebrated on the birthday of the author A.A. Milne. The special day is a chance for Pooh Bear fans of all ages to celebrate their love for one of Britain’s best loved story characters. If you enjoy Pooh’s adventures with Piglet, Eeyore and co., did you know that you can visit where the ideas and stories came from?
The 100 Acre Wood where the characters had their fun in the stories is actually based on the 500 Acre Wood in Ashdown Forest, East Sussex. Read more

There are a million and one reasons to explore the great outdoors of Britain, but if you’re looking for a truly thrilling incentive, how about the prospect of finding fossils and dinosaur bones dating back some 125 million years?
Unless you live near a fossil site, you might not even be aware of the important role that the UK plays in the realm of paleoethology, the branch of science concerned with fossilised animals and plants. But just across the Solent from GO Outdoors Southampton, there is a place dubbed ‘Dinosaur Island’ – also known as the Isle of Wight.

Whether you’re a fan of Halloween, horror movies or The Walking Dead, there is a big obsession with zombies in the world today. The obsession stretches so far that the Pentagon actually has a zombie survival plan, fear of the undead is a very real thing.
