GO Outdoors Penrith store to become a DofE Open Award Centre 
ACActive Ltd has been working with the new GO Outdoors store in Penrith, along with Penrith Mountain Rescue, and Cumbria Youth Alliance to set up a community project DofE Open Award Centre.
The opening event for the Award Centre will be Saturday January 19th between 10am and 4pm.
Local Universities in the area don’t offer the popular DofE award scheme to students, which lead to the idea of creating an open award centre for young people to attend weekly courses which allow them to take part in some fantastic adventures and activities leading toward a nationally recognised award.
Saturday 19th marks an enrolment day at the store and we ask young people (aged between 14 and 25) interested in signing up for the award to come down and see what it’s all about. We are also looking for adults looking to become a DofE volunteer leader and really make a difference in the Penrith and surrounding areas, to come down and see what is on offer.
