Traffic Free Cycling For Women

Any woman who wants to get fit but is concerned about safety should take a look at Cycletta coming this September and October to both the North and South of England.

If you want the practice of getting out on your mountain bike, road bike or hybrid bike, without the fear of angry bus drivers, easily bashed school children and compacted traffic, then you need the Cycletta race.

Cycletta is an event allowing a traffic free cycling route specifically for women. These unique routes are laid out so that there is no traffic, meaning you can easily do the 40km course without the demands of motorists, traffic lights, stopping and starting and pedestrians to worry you. It’s also a great chance to meet other women, whether you’re keen to meet new die-hard cycling buddies, or budding beginners. There is a 10mph minimum speed, but any fit woman should be able to cycle at this pace. (There is also a safety van which can collect stragglers if you do feel unable to finish!)

Because you place yourself at the start by your indicated level of ability (allowing quicker cyclists to head off first) and you can also enter as a group with friends at the same time. You can use any type of bicycle as long as it is in good working order and road safe with gears for the hills. You will also need a cycle helmet for safety.

Your entry also includes a goody bag, magazines, entertainment for spectators, use of a 40km course on traffic free roads, as well as helmet hair remedy centres and massage zones for afterwards, as well as other bits and pieces to remedy tired feet and an achy body!

Cycletta South is a 40km route on Sunday 11th September morning start at Whipsnade Zoo, Bedfordshire, LU6 2LF – 20 minutes north of London. Cycletta North is a 40km route on Sunday 2nd October, morning start at Tatton Park, Cheshire, WA16, 6QN – 20 minutes south of Manchester. The price per person is £45 for the South or North, or £80 for them both!
