50 Reasons to Visit New Forest National Park

The GO Guide to the New Forest

We’re lucky, in the UK, to be surrounded by so many areas of natural beauty. From the Scottish Highlands to the Cornish coast we can proudly boast about the wealth of stunning countryside we have as a nation.

If you’re looking for somewhere new to explore this spring why not make a trip to New Forest? The area is famed for its breath-taking landscape, with a 140,000 acre National Park, pristine coastline, heath and woodlands.

The flourishing natural environment is also home to an abundance of wildlife. New Forest National Park is one of very few places to maintain the historic practice of commoning – which permits certain local people to release their animals to graze freely around the forest – and roaming ponies have become an image which is iconic of New Forest.

With such a lot to offer it’s no wonder outdoor pursuits are so popular in the region. There are miles of picturesque biking and hiking trails to discover, not to mention the brilliant opportunities for water sports offered by the area’s proximity to the coast.

For the next instalment of our ’Reasons to Visit…’ series we’ve pulled together a fantastic selection of routes, activity ideas and campsite options to help inspire your trip. New Forest really does offer something for everyone; from family-friendly activities and glamping, to long distance hikes and back-to-nature camping experiences, a trip to the area can be tailored to suit every group.
