Check COVID restrictions beforehand and enjoy the outdoors responsibly.
With Mother’s Day around the corner and a lockdown still in place, you may be thinking you have limited options to celebrate this year. We may be more restricted than usual, but don’t worry, there’s still plenty of fun activities to do this Mother’s Day! Continue reading below to discover some fantastic ways to treat your mum on Sunday 14th March, whether you’re together or apart.
With the recent government announcement, the Prime Minister has set out a roadmap which states that from the 8th March:
“The Stay at Home requirement will remain, but people can leave home for recreation outdoors such as a coffee or picnic with their household or support bubble, or with one person outside their household.”
“Care home residents will be allowed one regular visitor provided they are tested and wear PPE”.
For some of you, this is great news and will mean you can finally reunite with your mum (if you don’t already live with her). However for others, social distancing may be the safest option for now and if that’s the case, there’s still plenty of fun things to do this Mother’s Day!
Pack some scrummy foods, find the perfect location and enjoy your mum’s company in the great outdoors this Mother’s Day! This is also ideal for those who wish to socially distance from their mum too, as you can take separate blankets and food.
If this past year has taught us anything, it’s to appreciate the great outdoors and everything it has to offer. So get out there and enjoy it! Go on a local walk or bike ride with your mum (socially distanced if you wish) and take the chance to catch up and have a laugh – all whilst keeping fit and healthy too!
Some of you may be apart this Mother’s Day, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get together virtually. How about setting up a meal for two on video call? You could make one, two or even three courses! Cook yourselves a delicious meal, put some music on and catch up together over the call…you’ll forget the screen is even there!
Since we can’t visit a spa this Mother’s Day, how about creating your own at home? Put your robes on, soak your feet and pamper yourselves! There’s so many treatments you can do at home – manicures and pedicures, facials, deep conditioning hair treatments and even massages! So spend your day making yourselves feel and look amazing. And for the full experience, why not play relaxing spa music and light some candles? The perfect way to unwind and enjoy a moment of bliss!
Get your Mary Berry on and make some home-baked goodies! Whether you’re in the kitchen together or on a video call, there’s so many different foods to bake at home. From cakes, to cookies or even savouries, choose something online or from a book and get baking! A fun activity for you both to enjoy – plus you will feel a sense of satisfaction when your masterpiece is complete!
Nothing beats a cosy night in. Dig out your comfiest pjs, put your favourite movie on and tuck in to some yummy cinema snacks! You can make your living room super snug with duvets, blankets and even fairy lights. And if you want to go all out, treat yourselves to a portable projector for the ultimate cinema experience! The projector can then be used year round for future movie nights – so you don’t have to worry about getting your money’s worth!
There’s something about planning a future trip that offers a sense of thrill – so take the opportunity and finally have something to look forward to! Whether it’s a weekend of camping, a fortnight of caravanning or even just one night away, everyone needs some time to escape reality and relax – and planning it is all part of the fun! Explore places to go, make lists of what you’ll need and look up activities to do whilst you’re there – it’ll be time for your getaway before you know it! Check out our Camping After Covid blog below for further information. We recommend that you check cancellation policies and current restrictions before going ahead.
Even though the world is different at the moment, we hope you find something fun to do to make the most of Mother’s Day! Stay positive, stay safe and don’t worry, better times are coming!
