Family holidays and camping trips can get quite similar after a while and that sometimes means that they lose their magic. Rather than going to the same campsite with the same local amenities and doing the same activities, try one of the many fantastic family-friendly festivals taking place in the UK this year instead!

Finding a family-friendly festival isn’t always easy and you don’t want to spend hours searching for one that’s right for you only to find it sold out months ago. So, to help you to start planning, we’ve compiled a list of the leading family-friendly festivals in the UK in 2018 – in date order – for you to choose your favourite.

Festivals in May 2018


Cosmic Puffin – Essex

When: Saturday 5th May 2018
Where: Mersea Youth Camp, Mersea Island, CO5 8SX

Why: A music festival featuring around 100 bands that you may never have heard of before but you could fall in love with over the course of this one-day, family friendly music festival. Faerie Festival – East Sussex

Wood Festival – Oxfordshire

When: 18th to 20th May 2018
Where: Braziers Park, Oxfordshire

Why: Music, workshops, food and drink plus some beautiful countryside make Wood one of the most beautiful and fun family festivals on the calendar. Described as a festival of music and nature you’ll have the opportunity to try a wealth of new activities and listen to bands you may and may not have heard of out in the great outdoors.

Shropshire Kids Festival – Shropshire


When: Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th May 2018
Where: Shrewsbury Quarry Park

Bearded Theory – Derbyshire

Ireby Festival – Cumbria

When: 25th to 26th May 2018
Where: Ireby, Lake District

Why: Ireby Festival is set within the picturesque Lake District, approximately 12 miles from Keswick to the west of the region. Over the course of the weekend the village is transformed into the host location for this unforgettable family music festival which has become renowned for its wonderful atmosphere and range of live acts.

Festival on the Moor – North Yorkshire

Geronimo Fest – Cheshire

Where: Arley Hall, Cheshire

Keswick Mountain Festival – Cumbria

3 Wishes Fairy Festival – Cornwall

Tartan Heart Festival – Inverness

When: 2nd to 4th August 2018
Where: Belladrum Estate, Inverness-shire
