Brits get snap happy in the great outdoors 
Over the last month or so we’ve asked you to submit your photos capturing the spirit of the Great British outdoors. The reception was overwhelming, we received around 450 entries ranging from beautiful landscapes, to a snapshot into your family holidays, from the dramatic to the serene.
The photo contest was split into 3 main categories: Summer Holidays, Outdoors and Festivals. These three categories were open to public voting with entrants encouraged to ask their friends and others to vote for their image for the chance to win a £75 voucher to spend online at GOoutdoors.co.uk.
All entries were also open to our judging panel consisting of GO Outdoors Founder John Graham and GO Outdoors video presenter Ian Mac. The winning photo would receive the grand prize of a Hi Gear Premium Oasis 6 family tent and a GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition bundle – a prize value of £985!
With over 3,800 votes spread across all the entrants, clearly the public were having as much trouble deciding a winner as our judges.

Animals were a strong theme through many of the entries submited, solidifying the fact that we are a nation of pet lovers. Between John and Ian it was decided that this was a photo they both felt quite strongly about. A fantastic backdrop with man’s best friend at the forefront, covered in the very British browns and greens of the countryside.
Summer Holidays Category Winner: Hayley Marlow from Barwell

Another from the selection of animal photos, and the public clearly enjoyed these two trying to work out what they had found washed up on the beach. A lovely photo and very well timed.
Festivals Category Winner: Dibs McCallum from Norwich

A great shot of the sun shining down through the arcadia structure at Glastonbury festival while a mini rave goes on below. Glastonbury has solidified itself as a quintessential part of the Great British summer, and clearly we aren’t the only ones who think so, with this photo capturing the imagination of the festival category voters.

The outdoors category was all encompassing, and you’d be forgiven for thinking that a stunning mountain vista or sprawling landscape shot might take the win. However the public really got behind this incredibly peaceful shot, and it’s easy to see why with the vivid colours on show, it could quite easily be a postcard.
