At GO Outdoors we’re super excited to announce the new collaboration between North Ridge and Helen Skelton. Helen is no stranger to adventure, and now kitted out in the latest style from North Ridge this season means she can continue challenging herself outdoors, and inspire you to get outside.
We chatted with Helen recently to find out about her greatest day outdoors, why time outside matters to her family, and why she’s excited to team up with North Ridge which is available only at selected retailers including GO Outdoors.
Helen grew up living on a dairy farm in Cumbria and gained her interest in farming from her Dad. She famously presented Blue Peter for six years; but did you know that during her time on the programme, Helen tackled more extreme challenges than most? She became the first person to travel to the South Pole on a bike, the second woman to complete the demanding 78-mile Namibian ultra-marathon, and broke world records for kayaking the Amazon. Helen’s latest presenting roles include BBC One programme ‘Countryfile’ and Channel 5’s ‘This Week On The Farm’.
“Nature and adventure are great levellers. There’s no denying time spent outside is good for your mental health and that’s why I would encourage anyone to invest in yourself by being outdoors.” – Helen Skelton
Whatever your mountain, make it an adventure with North Ridge. This iconic outdoor brand blurs the contour lines between trail and town. Blending style with substance, the designers at North Ridge have created a range of quality jackets, clothing, walking shoes and accessories which are all built for spending time outdoors.
North Ridge is a favourite with walkers, commuters and city explorers. Battle unpredictable weather in the collection of waterproofs and insulated jackets; plus, stay fast and light in the range of baselayers, shorts and women’s leggings. There’s also a fantastic selection of cool and casual graphic tees, and everyday layers to create a statement, even when resting between adventures.
So let’s get Helen’s take on this exciting new collaboration. She says, “I am just happier outside and I am learning that my kids are too. For me it’s about practicality, being able to go from school run to dog walk without an outfit overhaul. There’s no way to predict the British weather, but the North Ridge range means I don’t have to miss out on a walk just because the weather isn’t playing ball. If my kids are happy, I am happy, and if that means standing on the side of a skate park for five hours so be it. The North Ridge range combines practicality and style so I can do both. Wherever we end up after school or on weekends I am ready; confident and comfortable.”
As Helen highlights, the North Ridge range does it all, keeping you dry, comfortable and ready to explore, whatever your mountain.
This season, North Ridge continues to bring you stylish and functional outdoor gear to keep you exploring town, trail and beyond. Let’s take a look at Helen’s favourites and a few of ours too within the collection. You can shop the entire range only at selected retailers including GO Outdoors, online or in-store.
This for me ticks a lot of boxes, it’s long enough with a hood so that it’s practical when the weather is bad, but equally stylish enough to throw over gym gear. Plus, the fact there’s two jackets in one makes it a win-win – I can wear them separately or put them together when it’s both wet and cold. Also, big pockets are a life saver!
I just love the style of the Ainslie fleece and how versatile it is. I can put it on when I’m walking the dog or wear it to the gym, and It’s even ideal for shoving on when I’m getting the kids from school! The fabric is soft and the little thumb holes in the sleeves are so comfy too.
This vest is my go-to for the gym. It’s comfortable, breathable and sits perfectly on me without being too tight! I also love the shape of it at the back, it adds that bit of style, so I can feel good whilst working out.
