Making the outdoors accessible – Julie Marriott

Going outdoors is a family affair

There is no excuse for not getting outdoors, but our family do have to temper that statement sometimes re the weather, as we have a son who is a wheelchair user (aged 13).

However, thanks to GO Outdoors at Loughborough we have over the past 2 years kitted out our caravan and ourselves with all the equipment we need to get out in the countryside and enjoy fresh air and much needed exercise at a great price.  We’ve discovered great friendship and camaraderie on campsites and new accessible areas like the Gibralter Point nature reserve on the Lincolnshire coast – where the wardens have a truely ‘can do’ attitude.

Let’s hope this autumn is mild enough to continue those adventures along accessible paths, suitably kitted out
