Which gear would our staff choose from the upcoming season?
It’s always exciting coming into a new season, even if the weather doesn’t strictly follow us. In this series, we’re asking around head office for some staff ‘favourite 5s’ of the upcoming season. One of the items we are asked most about through the year are tents, so we went back to our Tent buyer Nick for his favourite 5 of 2013.
Top 5 Tents from Nick – Tent Buyer.
Tents are arguably one of our most popular items through the year, we all pine for that long hot Summer so that we can head out camping. Whether you’re a keen wild camper, a once a year festival goer, or a large family on a staycation, we aim to have all the tents you will need to create your home away from home.
Every keen camper has their favourite tent, and especially their favourite brand. So we asked Nick for his favourite 5 from our new tent range were. This is what he came back with:
1) Vango Airbeam Infinity 600 Tent
Nick says: “If you’ve ever snapped a tent pole when pitching a tent, you will know how frustrating it can be. The Vango Airbeam range is arguably one of the bigger innovations in camping of the last few years and this is the first year we’ve got them in stock at GO Outdoors. They’re only available in a few of our stores, but if you get a chance, pop in and check one out, as they will definitely change the mind of any doubters. They’re a little more expensive than a normal tent of their size, but for a family tent that pitches in just over 5 minutes? It’s worth the investment.”
Retail Price: £750
Discount Card Price: £675
2) Outwell Georgia 5P Tent
Nick says: “The main feature about the Georgia is the layout, with a large bedroom at the back, and two single bedrooms along the side, it offers a little more privacy inside the tent. The panoramic windows around the front porch are what we’ve come to expect from Outwell, but they’re still a great view for those nights out camping while you’re sat inside enjoying a drink and a chat.”
Retail Price: £900
Discount Card Price: £729.99
3) Hi Gear Soloista Tent
Nick says: “This is brand new from Hi Gear for 2013, it’s a low cost solo option that is ideal for cycle touring or backpacking. At only only 1.63kg the Soloista is very light and very affordable. We’re recommending this one if you are off on any school expeditions.”
Retail Price: £50
Discount Card Price: £29.99
4) Vango Eos 550XL Tent
Nick says: “The Vango Eos is an exclusive to GO Outdoors, so you won’t find it anywhere else. It’s a great 5 man tent for weekends away, with a standing height(2m) living area, this may not sound like much, but after a few days of constantly having to bend down, you’ll be thankful of it. Vango tents of this size are always quite a popular choice among our customers. If you feel like trying camping this year when the weather improves, you can’t go wrong with the Eos as a starting point. ”
Retail Price: £190
Discount Card Price: £149.99
5) Coleman Tourer 4 Instant Tent

Nick says: “This is another one for people who really aren’t fond of pitching tents. The Tourer has pre-attached steel poles that fold out and clip into place, making this four person tent very easy to set up. It’s ideal for a short get away, or a festival. Can fit two double airbeds, and even has a divider for the middle to separate the tent into two spaces.”
Retail Price: £200
Discount Card: £139.99
