Deborah takes on the Canadian wilderness
Our holiday to Canada earlier this year was an adventure in itself we certainly needed our waterproofs and boots and my trusty walking pole! We had expected the snow and ice to well in retreat by Spring Bank Holiday, but close to Vancouver city the snow was still several feet deep and Lake Louise, the jewel in the Rockies crown was still frozen. To hear the crack of an avalanche in the mountains at the head of the lake was a thrill, as was spotting a Grizzly bear breakfasting less than 50ft from the road. Vancouver island was a treat, with Bald Eagles to Humming Birds and Orca to otters being seen. Truly a wonderful adventure.
