First barbel is a monster! 
TEENAGER Ronaldo Cordina proved the River Taff is one of the best barbel rivers in the country when the 13-year-old landed a 16 lb 6 oz beard while on a chub session!
The local Cardiff lad was fishing with his uncle Stuart Anderson when the specimen picked up five red maggots on a size 12 hook to an 8 lb Mustad hook length and 10 lb main line.

It’s pike time again!
THIS 31 lb 9 oz pike is only Ryan Healey’s second ever of the species.
The 45-year-old from Cardiff, South Glamorgan, was targeting The Birch Syndicate, Peterstone Coarse Fishery in the same county when the cracking croc was caught.
Ryan said: ‘The fish is a new record for the syndicate water and what makes it more interesting is that I caught this three days after joining. It’s only my second ever pike!’

Damaged goods
THE damage caused by cormorants has been highlighted by Martin Salter the Angling Trust‘s campaigns chief.
The bitter sweet irony of the catch of roach scaling 2 lb 2 oz, 2 lb and 1 lb 12 oz from Hampshire’s River Avon, comes as the Trust make a push for the relaxation of culling laws for the black plague.
Sadly, two of the fish displayed cormorant damage.
Martin who is no stranger to specimen roach, having landed well over 50 from seven different UK rivers, said: ‘These magnificent creatures, that were once a regular feature on rivers like the Avon, are now as rare as rocking horse droppings thanks to 20 years of cormorant predation.
‘When two out of three big roach like this are carrying wounds, what chance do the rest of the diminishing roach population have of attaining their full potential?
‘I would urge every angler to get behind the Angling Trust’s Action on Cormorants campaign.’

Polluters pay £30k
A WHOPPING £30,000 has been gained for an angling club by pollution-prosecutors Fish Legal, following a horrific fish kill.
Not-for-profit membership association Fish Legal –part of the Angling Trust – gained the money for Derbyshire’s Williamthorpe AC who had their 9.5 acre lake polluted by a chemical company in 2009.
The club benefited from the free legal representation offered by Fish Legal’s expert lawyers, who take on water pollution cases on behalf member clubs all over the UK. In England, Fish Legal also acts as the legal arm of the Angling Trust.
On September 9, 2009, a catalogue of errors at a factory on the Holmewood Industrial Estate in Chesterfield saw chemicals used in textile manufacturing drain straight into the public sewer and on to the local sewage treatment works.
Once there, they knocked out the delicate biological treatment process at the works. By September 11, a deadly cocktail of raw untreated sewage mixed with toxic chemicals was released into the first of the series of ponds.

World record common carp!
A NEW World record common carp has been landed in the shape of this 91 lb mammoth.
The lucky angler was Eric Smith who bagged the whacker from the fifth time from Lac de Curton – AKA Rainbow Lake.
The common, named after the man himself, fell after two days of fishing Eric decided to change a long range rod closer to deeper water were he seen fish jumping.
Eric originally thought that it was a bream but soon realized his mistake when everything went heavy.
